The 2nd quarter has come to an end and I'm very proud of all of my students.  They are eager to learn and strive to do their best daily.  Please continue to work at home with your child daily on reading fluency, reading comprehension, math facts, and their spelling words.  I want to also focus your attention to the 12 powerful words that are being sent home weekly!

In Reading we will be working on the following target skills:

Sequencing

Comparing/contrasting

fluency

comprehension strategies

consonant and vowel blends

CVC patterns

consonant clusters

R controlled sounds

summarizing

In math we will be learning:

Numbers 0 - 100

Odd and even numbers

Counting by 10's, 5's, and 2's to 100

Patterns

Continued additon/subtration practice

In writer's Workshop:

We will be focusing on adding details, stretching words, understanding a small moment story, stretching rather than drawing, and story endings.

Science/Social Studies

We will be learning about maps and land forms in Social Studies as well as studying Presidents in honor of President's Day.
