In Science we are currently studying energy.  We began with a study of matter and molecules.  We then studied heat energy and learned about heat transfer.  Our last studies of energy are light and sound. 

Earlier in 1st quarter, we spent several days learning to write a current event summary.  A rubric on the correct format for this summary is in the front of their green folder.  Behind the rubric is an example of a summary entitled "Death of a Skater".  This example stays in the folder so students can refer to it if necessary.  Each student was also given a Science World magazine to use.  All articles in this magazine are science related.  Students may also use other magazines, the newspaper, or the internet for writing their summary.  However, all current event summaries must be science related.  Students are encouraged to turn in their summaries before the due date, not on the last day the work is due.  The next current event summary is due Wednesday, November 18th.

Reminders:
1. Student-led Conferences will be Tuesday,  November 10th.  The conference will take          from 15-20 minutes.  The times are 2:30-6:00.  Report  cards for 1st quarter will be given
    to you, conferences held with parent/guardian and student, and conferences held with         a teacher if student has a PEP or DEP.  Look forward to seeing you then!

2.  Please help out the school by participating in the the drink sale going on from now until         November 18th.  Drinks may be picked up after school on November 23rd.

3.  The permission form and $4.00 for the ballet trip is due by Tuesday, November 10th.
