Extra Credit Opportunities
To Parents and Students:
All extra credit opportunities focus on "WordSkills," the vocabulary program we have been using. This program focuses on word parts, not whole words. Knowing these "parts" is the key to unlocking many more word definitions. I would like to offer an ongoing extra credit assignment in conjuction with this program. If a student would like to earn an extra credit grade or replace a zero (homework or classwork only), he or she can do the following:
Option I:
1.Find an article (on-line, magazine, newspaper, etc.) that includes at least ten words containing word parts from the lessons we are covering (or have covered).
2. Hi-light each word in the article.
3.Type a list of the words, including the definition.
4. Use each word in a sentence.
Option II:
1. Create a set of flash cards for each lesson.
2. On each flash card list a word part, association word, and definiton for each.
3. Color code your cards! (Ask me for clarification)
Students may complete up to three of these extra credit assignments a quarter.
Please feel free to call or e-mail if you have any questions! Thanks!
