Thursday Mornings - rehearsal - 7:30!

On Sunday, Feb. 23, 2012 we were scheduled (since September 2011) to sing at West Point Baptist Church.  We had 13 out of 20 members show up to sing.  This is approximately 2/3 of our group.  There was some who were sick.  Obviously, if you are sick, we do not want you to come.  Other than that, you are expected to be at the scheduled concerts.  CLMS Show Choir has built a reputation for being  a reliable and mannerly group of young people.  I intend to keep that reputation.  

When each of you signed up for this group, you agreed to be at each rehearsal and ON TIME.  We have struggle severely with that this year.  

I am looking into a concert for First Reformed church either  March 4 or 18, 2012.  I am waiting on the pastor to confirm which date is good for the church. We will see how this next singing  date goes and see how attendance at rehearsals go in the next few weeks.  I will then make a decision as to whether I am willing to take the group to  Carowinds for competition.  Carowinds is a difficult competition and regular rehearsal from ALL members is a MUST. 

Thursday, Feb. 23, 2012 - all day trip to NC Music Educator's Solo and Small Ensemble Festival/contest to sing before the judges and receive a grade.  Details on time to come.  Bring formal wear to school with you that day.   The the fee for the choir and bus transportation will be covered by cookie dough fund raiser funds from the Nov./Dec. cookie dough sale and hopefully selling cans from the container.  We will stop at a fast food restaurant to eat lunch.  Please send enough money with your student for this. 

Friday, April 27, 2012 - compete at Carowinds Music Festival.  This is an all day trip.  This trip will cost $45.00.  This covers entry into the park, bus transportation, bus driver, and substitute teacher for my classes while I am gone that day.  This does not include any food they eat while at Carowinds.  Please send money with them for that.  This needs to be paid by March 15, 2012 in order to have the tickets before we go.  If you are a band student and a Show Choir student -- PLEASE pay me your money because I have to have a certain number to enter.  Mr. Hall will have enough without the Show Choir members to satisfy his number requirement.  Thanks for your help with this!

Please remember our can recycling container on the Zion St. side of our campus.  If we can continue to put cans in, we can raise funds to help pay for bus trips for our spring semester.  All these funds received from the sale of cans go to Show Choir.  Unfortunately,  we have not been able to fill the container all year, so we have not made any money this year as of yet.

Chorus Students:  We are  learning music for the March 20 concert.  6th grade students need to bring in T shirts to paint on Feb. 17.  Shirts need to be at school by Feb. 10, 2012.  Thanks to those of you who have already brought them.  Also,  don't forget a pair of "cool" sun glasses for one of the songs.
