This Week's Tests and Quizzes

Thursday - Spelling Bee on Lesson 1-6

Friday - Spelling : Lesson 6 unit test  

Science : Volcano quiz.  Be able to label the parts of an volcano, know your volcano vocabulary, and the kinds of volcanoes and lava found in your copybook, know what causes volcanoes and where they are most likely to occur.  Use textbook 230-231 and copybook notes while studying. 

Monday - Social Studies: Label all the countires and capitals of West Africa on a map.  Use your study cards and the back of your Social Studies textbook.                 

BAG NIGHT REMINDER Sixth grade arts and crafts basket.  I would appreciate it if each family would send in one small item (craft foam, glue on eyes, bracelet beads, markers, scissors, etc. ) to help complete our basket.  Thanks for your help once again. PLEASE SEND IN YOU ITEM BY MONDAY

WALK-A-THON  Pray that we will have good weather for our Walk-a-Thon on Friday at 1:15.  We will be walking down Second Street to Snyder and return to school via Moyamensing Ave.  Feel free to stop by to cheer us on.  Students should wear their gym uniforms and sneakers to school, and red and white pom-poms or posters would also be appropriate on that day.  All pledge money raised will go towards new computers!!!

Thursday -

Religion quiz on Chapter 6 - study chapter review in text, highlighted text, and copybook notes    

Spelling test on Chapter 7 - list words, and challenge words

Friday -

English Figurative language test - study the definitions and examples of similes, metaphors, hyperbole, alliteration, personification and onomatopoeia found in copybook, also review worksheets

 Math  test on division : short, long, division of decimals, decimal divisors, decimal patterns, estimating quotients, adding zeros , use wb pages and copybook notes as a guide                                                 

AUTHOR STUDY PROJECT

Due December  19th - Students will read three books written by the same author, and create a poster which displays 3 annotated bibliographies, and summary of the author's life and writing style, a picture of the author and decorations related to the author and his/her works.  Students will orally present their posters to the class the week before Christmas break.  A list of popular authors has been posted in the class, and students have begun reading their first books.

FIELD TRIP

Our second trip to the Kimmel Center will be next Thursday, November 20th from 9:15 - 12:00.  The topic will be music and theater.  Thank you to Mrs. Lutz and Mr. Foy who have volunteered to drive.  We are in need of more volunteers.  Please let me know if you are available to help us, and how many passengers can fit in your vehicle.  Thank you!

BAG NIGHT

This fun fundraiser is finally here! Please come out on Friday night and support our teachers as they raise funds to cover the school's heating bills over the winter months.  Thank you for all those who have already assisted us through your generous donation of filled bags, and craft items for our class themed basket.~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

FIELD TRIP  Drivers are still needed for Thursday's trip.  Thank you to the following families that have already volunteered.  Lutz - 6 students  Foy - 4 students  Grosso - 4 students.  We will be leaving school at 9:15 and returning around 12:00.
