Week of March 30, 2009

2nd and 4th Periods

Monday: 

We will complete "The Miller's Tale." 

Tuesday through Friday: 

We will take notes on the Medieval Romance and read two tales.  The culminating activity is to "read" the film EXCALIBUR to analyze how many versions of the Arthurian legend are woven into the plot of the film. 


3rd Period A&B

Monday through Friday: 

Currently, we are still reading and interpreting Shakespeare's JULIUS CAESAR.  I've noticed a big positive difference, in general, in how you all are understanding the play; I believe the Reading Guides are helping tremendously.  Class A will complete Acts 3 and 4, and Class B will complete the play this week.  Tentatively, the Final Test is next week on Wednesday. 



Week of March 23, 2009

2nd and 4th Periods

Monday through Thursday:

Since we've completed the County Writing Test, we can focus our attention on the Canterbury Tales.  Also, we will begin our study of the Medieval Romance, i.e., Arthurian Legends.   


3rd Period A&B

Monday through Thursday:

We will continue our study of William Shakespeare's Julius Caesar.  Soon, we will begin our research project, so be thinking on a subject to explore, i.e., a current event or issue. 


Week of March 16, 2009

2nd and 4th Periods

Monday:

4th period will continue presentations of CT Projects on Monday, and 2nd period will begin presentations.

The Prologue Assignment (analysis of 24 pilgrims) is due for completion on Monday. 

Tuesday through Friday:

Our goal is to complete all materials in the Canterbury Tales Packet.  We may begin the Medieval Romance, i.e., Take Notes, Malory's Le Morte d'Arthur and Pearl Poet's Sir Gawain and the Green Knight

3rd Periods A&B

Monday through Friday: 

Our goal is to continue our reading and study of Shakespeare's Julius Caesar.  We will use our JC Packet for quizzes and other activities.

This week, we will be studying Chaucer's Canterbury Tales.  Below is the tentative agenda.  All materials will be found in the Canterbury Tales Packet.  The CT Project due date will be announced in class.  Additionally, we will receive the County Writing Test Prompt this week; you will begin outlining your response and writing your rough draft.  This writing test will be graded, and you will receive a test grade for your effort.

Monday- Continue to prepare for Writing Test; Packet will be collected for a Project Grade. 

Tuesday- Be confident.  You know what to do; just do it.  Report to your 1st period location to take the NC 10th Grade Writing Test.  Be confident, and do your best.  Don't be nervous, but seize the opportunity to showcase your knowledge and writing abilities.

2nd Period:  Senior English IV Honors
