1. Individual book tests will be first thing when you walk in.  These tests are 20 equal matching with one discussion.
2. Group work is due.  Make sure you email your editor your work:  study guide paragraph that includes answers to four test questions; four test questions with answers and page or chapter numbers; magazine article with 2 quotes and 2 pictures.  Editors, make sure you compile this for the study guide for the class.  If I need to make copies for the entire class, I will need the original by 8:00 on Monday morning (Friday would even be better.)  If you want me to make copies, it would probably be a good idea to call me and set up when you will get the sheet to me.  Also, editors, email me the questions from your group so that I can start typing the test.
3. Completed magazine will be turned in on Wednesday, but individuals will present his/her work on Monday.  We will review the material and share the final product on Wednesday.
4. Two portfolios are due are Wednesday; after this, you should only have the reflective template due with your entire portfolio for the unit grade Tuesday week.
5. Lit terms 1-60 unit TEST will be on Wednesday.

1. Group work rough draft is due.  This should be typed with two quotes and two pictures.  It would be nice to mail it to your layout designer and copy editor.  Your magazine is due on Monday so your editor will take what you have and put it all together.
2. Four test items are due from your novel.  Put the answer and the page number in parenthesis following the question.  Again, this would be nice if you would email them to me.
3. Two portfolios are due.
4. Lit terms 1-50.  Next week will be the unit test.  Please learn them now.

1. Novel test.  After I finish reading them this weekend and making the tests out, I might post some hints here.  It will probably be 25 matching.
2. Beowulf essay is due.  Make sure you put the rubric in the sleeve, also.
3. Bring your novel to class!!  We will begin our group activities and it is imperative that you have both the novel and the handout that I gave you earlier.
4. Complete the ACT handout.  I might take it up or we might just go over this in class.
5.  Any late work or questions, please let me know.  Hopefully I will have everything graded.  If you need a new progress report, let me know.

Day 13, Sept 10  Do Now: Unit 2: Sentence Completeness. Fragments. Write rules 10a and 10b.  Work Ex 1, 341-342.

1. Beowulf test.  Make sure you review study guide and powerpoints that we went over in class.  Can you compare and contrast the three battles described in the epic?  After Beowulf arrives, how many Geats does Grendel kill?  Do not come in class and ask me these questions.  Just make sure you know the answers.
2. Beowulf essay handout:  Complete three hero characteristics with two quotes each.  If you turn your essay in early, I will give you bonus points.  It will be due on Tuesday.
3. Bring your novel to class!!  We might have class time to read if everyone brings it to class.  Remember to be reading on your novel.  Your tests will be on Tuesday.  They will be objective tests.  I think I will have the essay questions for the unit test on all of the novels from the presentations.  Your essay will count half and the objective part will count half.  The novel project will be due on September 24 but I am going to look for 2 groups to volunteer to do theirs early.  If someone does this, it will make it easier before the nine weeks test.

Day 12, Sept 8  Extra credit must be turned in by Friday

Do Now: Usage test:  Make sure you have 7 exercises and all rules copied.
1. Study all rules for the Usage test:  who/which, where/that, inferred/ implied, fewer/ less, effect/ affect, respectively/respectfully, nor/or, less/fewer, credible/credulous, illusions/allusions, amount/number, that/those, negatives
2. Correct 250-500 word essay.  Turn in two rough drafts and corrected typed essay in a sleeve.  Make sure you follow MLA style (remember to change your heading) and the guidelines on the rubric.
3. Literary term quiz 1-40.  I will give this to you at 8:40.  If you are doing poorly on these quizzes, make sure you make flashcards to help you.
4. We will discuss ACT handout on Friday, but make sure you bring it to class each day in case we have a spare moment to work on it.
5. Learn to use your time wisely!!  Bring your novel to class each day.  You will need to be through reading this by September 16; we will have a quiz then.  Your project will be due on September 24.
6. Two portfolios are due.  Remember you only need 3 under Academics, Athletics/Hobbies, Activities, and Volunteering.  I will give you a person reflection sheet.  We will make sure everyone is on the same page with work experience and letters of recommendation.
7. Finish Beowulf powerpoint; test on Friday.  This is a very detailed test.  Make sure you study each night.

Day 11, Sept 4  REMEMBER EXTRA CREDIT --  Celtic Fest Do Now: Final review of Glossary of Usage; work Post-test p 618-619.

2. Write 250-500 word essay.  Have someone proof this and turn in rough draft and corrected typed essay.  Make sure you follow MLA style and the guidelines on the rubric.
3. Complete ACT practice 114-118 handout (finish sentence fragments).
4. Bring your novel to class each day.  You will need to be through reading this by September 16; we will have a quiz then.  Your project will be due on September 24.
5. Looking at our calendar, I have decided that on the portfolio entries for this nine weeks, instead of four entries on numbers 3, 4, 5, & 6, you will not have to turn in but THREE.  Two entries will due on Wednesday.
