Mrs. Bayley's Kindergarten March 15 – March 19, 2010 Here's a look at the week ahead: Language Arts: This week, we will begin Theme 8: Down on the Farm. Our stories this week include: The Story of Half-Chicken, Cows in the Kitchen, and Ice Cream: from Cows to Kids. We’ll work on phoneme substitution (taking away the “r” in “rat” and replacing it with “c”), review rhyming, practice reading 3-letter words with short “o” in the middle, and make a class book about foods we like. There is no new letter this week and no Show-N-Tell on Friday. We will practice reading and recognizing the words on our Word Wall – “I”, “see”, “my”, “like”, “a”, “to”, “and”, “go”, “is”, “here”, “for” and “have” and add “said”.
Math: We’ll finish Chapter 10: Money. We will have a class store to review the coins we learned and complete a review booklet on Tuesday. The chapter test will be on Wednesday and we’ll have a unit test (on time and money) on Thursday.
Religion: Chapter 18 is called “Eucharist”. We will learn about the Last Supper and how we remember it at Mass. We will talk about the bread and wine at Mass as Jesus’ body and blood. Please have your child bring in a type of bread for show-n-tell on Thursday. Sister Cathy will be with us Tuesday afternoon. We will have Mass on Friday with our dads to celebrate
Science/Social Studies: This week, we’ll work on a surprise for our dads, read some St. Patrick’s Day stories, and complete a writing prompt about a leprechaun.
