Mrs. Bayley's Kindergarten
May 30 – June 6, 2011
Here's a look at the weeks ahead:
Language Arts:
On Tuesday, we will finish reviewing the sounds of “u”. We’ll have our last spelling test on these short “u” words: cut, run, cup, bug, sun. “U” Show-n-Tell will be on Tuesday. For the last few days, we will learn about a few consonant blends – r blends, s blends, and l blends. We’ll learn the sounds they make, read them in some simple words, and play some games with blends. Please keep reading with your kids this summer – they have made so much progress this year! It will be very beneficial for them to keep up the skills they’ve learned to ease the transition into first grade.
Math:
We will finish Chapter 15: Numbers 10-20. We’ll practice making the numbers up through 20 on our ten-frames, order the numbers 10-20, and practice some estimating. We’ll complete the chapter review book on Friday then take the chapter test next Monday.
Religion:
We will take this time to continue practicing for our end of the year celebration. Our last Mass will be on Thursday at 1:15. It is a non-uniform day so you do not need to wear your tie, but you can’t wear shorts for Mass.
Science/Social Studies:
We will read some end of the year stories and create a school memories book.
Reminders:
- Swim is on Tuesday and Gym is on Thursday.
- Library books need to be returned on Wednesday. Thanks!
- Tuesday we will have the party for our 8th grade buddies at 1:00. Please remember to send in a small gift for your child’s buddy. They have been great to us this year and have formed some great friendships with Kindergarten!
- Remember that there is no school on Monday, May 30th.
- The last day for uniforms is Tuesday, May 31st. There was an e-mail sent out about what is appropriate attire, but here are some reminders: no short-shorts, no spaghetti straps or sleeveless shirts and no flip-flops. For Mass on Thursday, however, the kids are not allowed to wear shorts. They are supposed to wear long pants or jeans.
- The last day of Kindergarten is Monday, June 6th. We will have an end-of-the-year celebration that evening at 7:00pm. Please bring your child to our classroom at 6:45. They should dress up a little, like they would for Sunday Mass.
I can’t believe the year is over already! How fast it’s gone! I have been telling the kids I won’t let them go on to first grade because I’ll miss them too much! It has been a pleasure working with all of you this year. Thank you for sharing your children with me! Have a wonderful and restful summer!
