We are working on steady beat and pitch for the rest of the month of April. We are learning that "high" in music class is different from "high" as in "Turn up the TV, I can't hear it!" The kids are responding very well. A few students can even sing an octave leap which is usually a late first or second grade thing to be able to do!! Your children are all wonderful music makers! Keep up the great work! Come on in and have some fun! What all will you have learned when the year is done? See you soon, Tiffany Garcia ![]() First Grade We are reviewing pitch and learning a game, "My Mamma's Calling Me" which is in call and response form. (A soloist sings the call then the group sings the response.) The call is sung on high pitches and the response is sung on low pitches. Everyone has a great time and their singing is improving! ![]() Second Grade Now that our rhythms are written, we are working on learning to read simple 2 pitch songs. Once we can figure out the notes we are singing and playing the songs on different melodic instruments like melody bells and boomwhackers. At the end of this month we will put the rhythms we wrote on staff paper with two pitches to create our own piece of music. ![]() Third Grade We are finishing up the year singing, playing instruments and writing our own song using quarter notes, half notes, quarter rests, and pairs of eighth notes with a C pentatonic scale. Congratulations, your child is now a composer! ![]() Fourth Grade We are finishing up the year singing, playing instruments and writing our own song using quarter notes, half notes, whole notes, half rests, quarter rests, pairs of eighth notes and sixteenth notes with a C pentatonic scale. Congratulations, your child is now a composer! Mrs. Garcia ![]() ![]() ![]() |
