I want to give a very special thank you to all of the parents.  It is so nice to have parents that come to a scheduled report card conference, and I don't have to reschedule any conferences.  It is wonderful to have parents that care as much as you do about your child's progress!

 

     It is hard to believe that it is almost Thanksgiving, but it is.  Your children have been working very hard in all subjects.

 

  In math, we started having weekly quizes on our multiplication facts.  Please help your child study each night.  We are working in Unit 4 in Everyday Math which is teaching us many different strategies to solve multiplication and division problems.

 

     In reading, we are finishing Theme 2 with one of my favorites, The Trickster Tales.  I hope you enjoyed reading these with your child this week.  We are going to learn how to understand poetry and write several types before Thanksgiving break.

 

     In writing, we are continuing to learn how to write a story that is focused on a small moment.  This story should have a beginning, middle, and ending.  It should also have details that make it interesting and easy to understand, as well as, flow from one thought to another.

 

     In science, we have just finished our seed and plant experiments.  The students enjoyed observing and keeping their logs.  We have learned how seeds and plants grow and survive.  We are continuing our study of plants in different environments.

 

     Please make sure your child has completed all homework assignments each night.  Also, make sure your child has read for at least 20 minutes each night, completes his or her reading log, and turns it in on Fridays.
