Congratulations to Claire as she receives Holy Communion this weekend. The children enjoy sharing their Communion writing with the class and sharing how they celebrated this special day.

      The May Crowning is approaching quickly. I will send an email out soon with more details. Your child will report directly to the classroom on this day by 8:00 am. They will be dressed in their Communion outfits but will bring their gym clothes separately to change into. Once your child is changed into the gym uniform you will be able to leave with your child's Communion clothes. 

      Field Day is Thursday. I sent an email to everyone with more details.

      In science this week we will start a new chapter and study more about the Earth as we take a look at rocks and minerals. In social studies we will continue to review basic map skills. We will also read about Memorial Day and what it represents.

        In between our May Crowning practices, we are studying the parts of the Mass. We will be looking at the Liturgy of the Eucharist. The children are also finishing up their writing about spending a day with Jesus.

          In math we are finishing up our chapter on geography. We will be moving onto measurement, in addition to reviewing basic math facts.

Due to the shortened week and (hopefully -- weather permitting) Field Day -- we will not complete a spelling unit this week. Instead we will work on the review pages in the workbook. There will not be regular spelling homework. We will use the extra time to work on language arts skills and map skills. Please refer to the homework page for assignments.

    At least 5 spelling sentences on Wednesday nights should be written incursive as there are only a few letters left to learn. If the students want to write more than 5 in cursive they may.

We are out of tissue boxes if anyone is able to donate more -- our allergy noses in 2G will be most thankful!
