• Practice writing summaries, using transition words and phrases, and creating top-down webs.

• Take and discuss two column notes on characteristics of a memoir.

• Read and discuss samples of memoirs.

• Create memoirs based upon Cynthia Rylant's "When I Was Young in the Mountains".  Memoirs will include concrete, specific details and sensory images.  

• Take quiz on memoir characteristics.

AGENDA:

• Daily Journal Writing Week 2.  Explain daily prompts and discuss responses. 

• Weekly ELA Skills Packet, Week 29.

• Create memoirs based upon classroom exemplars.

• Continue to review diagramming structure with practice sheets and board work.
