Team 6B - The Excaliburs6th Grade Regular and GATE Science - Mrs. DantzlerMotto:"If we can dream it, we can do it!March 2009>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>.Starlab went well last week. We reviewed winds, latitude and longitude on the Earth Cylinder, learned star stories told by the indians and learned about some of the constellations seen in Fall and Winter skies. I was impressed that many of the students reported seeing Orion, Canus Major and Sirrius after having visited Starlab. Wow! Good for them!My students seemed to really enjoy playing the games they developed. Many were unique and quite creative. This week brings PASS Testing in Writing. This will take place on Tuesday and Wednesday of this week. After PASS testing, we will go back into our text to study Energy. WE will concentrate at first on Chapter 14 - Section1:"What is Energy?" (pgs. 402 - 406 and Section 2: "Energy Transformations" (pgs 407 - 413). Powerpoints for this infromation are at the end of my webpage. We will then begin Simple Machines. I will be sending home information soon about our Rube Goldberg machines. Fun! Interesting! Educational!!Parents, encourage your students to always review the last few pages in their Spiral Notebook even if there is not a written homework assignment. In addition, they should ALWAYS look over notes on Dry Mix and graphing skills. We will revisit these skills many times throughout the year.I also want to remind you that I tutor on Tuesday mornings. I will be there by 7:45 a.m. If your child is having difficulty with science concepts or just needs to review, he or she should not hesitate to come to my tutoring sessions.** If you ever have questions or concerns, do not hesitate to call me at home at 871-1346 (after 5:30 p.m.) or at the school at 873-3610. You may also e-mail me at home at gazerof9@aol.comFor Robotics:http://nxtraordinary.blogspot.com/2009/01/technobotts-3-preparation-for-uk-f_____________________________________________ |
