We are starting Political Parties, Elections and Voting.  This unit will take about 2 and half weeks.  In this unit the students will learn how political parties developed.  The role of political parties, and how they can get involved in politics.  

The will also learn how the election process works. The students will understand the campaign process, the different techniques used to sway voters.  The students will also understand what polls are and how effective they are.  The students will create their own poll questions and ask people their questions and have to analyze the data.

Their will be a major project in this unit.  The students will get into groups and create their own political party.  They will use all the information they have been given to run for office in the classroom.
