Welcome to Mrs. Shumate-Anderson's seventh grade language arts class. Below you will find listed the homework expectations for students in my class. As a rule, homework is held to a minimum; Outside Reading forms the bulk of all homework assignments. All other class work is generally completed in class.

Monday through Thursday: All students are expected to read for at least 20 minutes daily outside of class. This is called Outside Reading. All students are expected to keep a daily reading log in which they will record summaries, thoughts, feelings, or reactions to what they read. The entries do not need to be lengthy; just a couple of sentences will be sufficient! Each entry must be dated and initialed or signed by a parent. The weekly reading logs are turned in each Friday, and are counted as a class work grade. Students make their own reading logs.
