Monday: In class reading: "The Tale of King Arthur" from Sir Thomas Malory's Le Morte d'Arthur.

Reading focus activity: list several common characteristics of a hero. Complete active reading guide: record which characteristics Arthur displays in this passage, and explain how he fits each characteristic. 

Tuesday: In-class reading/discussion: "The Tale of Sir Launcelot" fro Sir Thomas Malory's Le Morte d'Arthur. Continue active reading guide from previous day; record the heroic traits illustrated by Sir Launcelot.

Compare characters: what traits does Arthur have that Launcelot does not; what does Launcelot illustrate that Arthur does not; in what ways are Launcelot and Arthur similar and different

Wednesday: In-class reading: excerpt from Alfred, Lord Tennyson's Idylls of the King, "The Passing of Arthur"
