November Update    November 2009

A busy month ahead!!

    The class is preparing for our upcoming trip to the Nutcracker Performance.  We are reading about and discussing art forms and will be using information from the Delaware Valley Dance Academy to understand the story and the performance.

  The children in first grade are spending time understanding the Pilgrims’ voyage to the New World.  Theyare working on a booklet “If I Sailed on the Mayflower…” and will celebratewith their older Indian friends a “Thanksgiving” of sorts.  Wearing their Pilgrim and Indian hats thechildren will share some simple food, special friends and spend time thankingGod for His goodness.

     Technology is being well used in the First Grade.  We have created bar graphs, pie graphs,developed Power Point Presentations on animals and on our class activities.  The children are captivated during this instruction.
