This week in the science lab:

Monday (H1N1 vaccine will be given to 5th graders)

ALL CLASSES

1.  Watch science video

Tuesday

ALL CLASSES

1.  Review the parts of a microscope

2.  Examine the microscope and identify each part

3.  Go over the rules for using the microscopes properly

4.  Examine prepared slides of animal and plant cells

Wednesday

ALL CLASSES

1.  Science current events due today

2.  Examine onion skin cells under the microscope

3.  Be able to identify the parts of the cell:  cell wall, nucleus, vacuole, cytoplasm, etc

4.  Draw a picture of the cell and label the parts

Thursday

ALL CLASSES

1.  Examine cheek cells under the microscope

2.  Students will scrape the inside of their mouths and use a toothpick to remove some of the cells

3.  Students will prepare their own slides

4.  Draw a picture of the cell  and label the parts

Friday

ALL CLASSES

1.  Microscope quiz (Labeling and vocabulary)

Study the following materials:

*Microscope vocabulary sheet (definitions only)

*Index cards

*"Amazing microscope" sheet (labeling only)

2.  Finish cheek cell lab (if needed)

3.  Answer lab questions (if needed)

Monday November 23 (11:30 Dismissal)

ALL CLASSES

1.  All students will receive From Biology to Plants textbook

2.  Read the story "Disease Detective"

3.  Answer questions
