To all 8th grade GEM Math students:  If you are interested in participating in any math competition this school year, Ms. Simpson has scheduled a brief meeting to discuss meeting times on Thursday, September 15th in room 122 during eighth grade lunch.  By:  Ms. Simpson

Students, the deadline for the School Lunch Poster Contest has been extended until this Friday, September 16th.  Please stop by the Media Center for more information and to drop off your entries.  By:  Mrs. Garitta

The 8th Grade Open House which was scheduled for this Thursday has been postponed.  It will now be held on Thursday, October 6th. 

The PTSA annual fundraiser, "Trot Festival",  is in full swing!   Students have until September 22nd  to get sponsors and collect money.  Students who collect a minimum of $35 will receive a Trot shirt and participate in "Trot Around the Track"  festival activities on October 21st.   Envelopes may be dropped off in the blue box in the courtyard.   If you have any questions, or would like to volunteer to help with the "Trot", you can contact the STMS PTSA at stmsptsa@gmail.com

Students, don't forget...if you are interested in entering the School Lunch Poster Contest, stop by the Media Center or visit the Silver Trail web page for the rules and other important information.  All entries are due in the Media Center by Thursday, September 15th, so get out those art supplies!  By:  Mrs. Garitta

September 6 - September 9, 2011

In honor of National School Lunch Week, which is October 10 -14, STMS will be participating in a Poster Contest sponsored by the Food and Nutrition Services Department.  The theme for this year’s contest is School Lunch-Let’s Grow Healthy.   There will be one winner from each grade level and the three winning posters will then be submitted for county judging.  The county will select approximately 40 winning posters and those will be displayed in the Kathleen C. Wright Administrative Building during School Lunch Week.  In addition, there will be a Reception and Award Ceremony for all county winners and their parents.  All entries must be submitted to the Media Center by Thursday, September 15.    If you are interested in entering this contest, please visit the STMS web page or stop by the Media Center for a copy of the rules.  By:  Mrs. Garitta

There will be an informational meeting for boys' and girls' soccer on Friday, September 9th from 3:30-4:00 in the gymnasium.  Students must have their signed permission slips with them.  These forms can be downloaded from the school's website or from Coach Tara Leonard's page on schoolnotes.  By:  Coaches Leonard and Kraemer

The City of Pembroke Pines invites you to the 10th Anniversary September 11 Ceremony on Sunday, September 11th at 8:30 a.m. at the City Center, 10300 Pines Boulevard.  The unveiling of the 911 Memorial will take place.  For more information, please visit the Reflections link on our school's website and click on Events.

The first N.J.H.S. meeting will be this Thursday, September 8th, at 3:35 P.M.  We will meet in the Media Center.  The meeting will end promptly at 4:30.  Please make arrangements ahead of time to be picked up.  Thank you.  By:  Mrs. Tchir and Mrs. Langford

The 7th Grade Open House will be held Thursday, September 8, at 6:00 p.m.

The BAT (Benchmark Assessment Test)  Writes testing  will begin tomorrow, September 7, and continue through September 8.  Students, make sure you get a good night's rest and have a healthy breakfast so you will do well on the test. 

August 29 - September 2, 2011

If you are interested in entering the 2011-2012 Reflections contest, participation forms are now available in the Grade Level Centers and in the Media Center.  These forms are due on Friday, September 9th.  The artwork will be due October 21.  More information will be coming shortly.  By:  Mrs. Heyd

Students, please remember that Picture Day will be this Wednesday, August 31st.  You are allowed to be out of uniform for Picture Day, but you must follow the School Board of Broward County Dress Code.  Please remember, no hats, spaghetti straps, pants with holes, or sandals.  If you are ordering pictures, don't forget to bring the order envelope.  By:  Administration

The Sixth Grade Open House will be held Thursday, September 1, at 6:00 p.m. 

STMS PTSA's first General Meeting of the 2011/2012 school year will be  held on August 31st at 6:30 p.m. in the STMS Media Center. Refreshments will be available.  Come meet your PTSA board! The proposed budget for 2011-2012 will be presented for membership approval.  Our guest speaker will be Hilda M. Gutierrez de Alvarro, published children's author and freelance Spanish writer. Ms. Gutierrez de Alvarro will be speaking about respect, one of the themes explored in her new book, CourtesyBy:  PTSA

Picture Day will be next Wednesday, August 31, 2011.  Picture packets have been sent home.  Please fill them out and return them if you are interested in purchasing photos.
