Monday, June 1 - Finish reading Tuck Everlasting, complete review sheet for Chapters 10 - Epilogue. Homework: Permission slip to watch the movie Tuck Everlasting need to be signed and returned by Friday, test on the book on Thursday. Friday, May 29th - Students are continuing to read Tuck Everlasting - through Chapter 20, finish defining vocabulary through Chapter 15. Using the vocabulary words, students are creating a crossword puzzle on graph paper. Homework: return and/or pay for library books. Tuesday, May 26 - Blue Diamond Assessment. Homework: return any library books - all books are now overdue. EOG scores went home today. Anyone receiving a 1 or 2 was remediated today. Level 2's will retest on Thursday. If your child received a Level 1 and you would like them to retest - please sign the bottom of the sheet and return it tomorrow! They will also retest on Thursday. Quiz from yesterday was returned and gone over. Because of poor grades (on most) I went over the material again and gave a retest on descriptive and proper adjectives today. Students who received a C or below must make corrections on another sheet of paper - rewrite each sentence missed and follow directions from the quiz. Half credit will be given and the final grade will be counted as classwork. No one will receive lower than a 70 if the corrections are done. I will reteach possessive and demonstrative adjectives tomorrow and retest that as well. The 2 retests together will result in a new test grade. Homework: Quiz Friday on ALL suffixes. Verb tests were returned. Students may make corrections for half credit. The lowest grade a student will receive on corrections is a 70. Students must rewrite the sentences they missed on a separate sheet of paper - telliing me which section it is from and the number of the sentence(s). They must follow the directions for that section written on the test. The original test and the corrections sheet are to be stapled together and turned in no later than Friday. I will not accept corrections after Friday (except for Block 1 - they have until Monday). I will also only accept the corrections if all corrections are made on all incorrect answers, not just a few. Monday, Nov. 17 - Objective - Nonfiction - facts and supporting details - summarizing. Homework: Quiz Wed. on first 5 suffixes; Quiz Friday on ALL suffixes. Please donate nonperishable items for the Food Drive this week. Friday, Nov. 14: I apologize for not updating sooner, but I was on jury duty the last two days! Today we discussed nonfiction and all the everyday things we read which qualify. We also updated writing folders. Homework: none for the weekend! Monday, Nov. 10 - Review verbs for test. Homework: Study for Verb test on Wednesday; please sign and return white copy of report card, if you have not already done so. Tuesday is Veteran's Day - school holiday. Friday, Nov. 7 - Review all verbs. Homework: Report Cards are being distributed today. Please sign one copy and return it as soon as possible to your child's second block teacher.
