Dear Families,

The warm weather is here and that means our time together is almost through. I want to take a moment to thank you for making my first year at the Johnson School a very special and memorable one. It has been a pleasure to come to work each day with your children and watch them become students who are excited to learn. As one parent commented to me about our class, "they are like a little family" and I could not agree more. All year they have been kind, caring, playful and understanding of one another. They have found friends and all work together well. They appreciate each other's successes, and help each other when they are needed. I also need to thank Mr. Syrigos, our amazing teaching aide, who has been great with the kids, and a lot of fun for me to work with. I know George would second all that I have said about our class, they are especially helpful to him whenever I have be out of the classroom!

Over the next two and a half weeks we will be winding down and reviewing our year together. I hope to see all of you at our Author/Artist Breakfast on Thursday morning from 7:30-8:45 a.m. Come ready to take things home - we have been saving a lot of awesome work! I will be showing our class "year-in-review" slideshow at this time. If you would like a DVD copy of this, I am asking for a book donation to our newly renovated library. I will have details on Thursday for you.

The Field Day rally was held on Friday afternoon, and hopefully your children came home with their color team assignments. As this is also a new Johnson School tradition for me I was very excited to see the amount of school spirit we had and the excitement from the Kindergarten students for this event. Let's hope for a sunny day on Tuesday, June 10!

Final report cards will be coming home on the last day of school, Wednesday, June 18. Just a reminder - this is a full day of school. If there is anything I can help you with before then do not hesitate to contact me.

Thank you again and see you on Thursday!

Have a safe and happy summer vacation,
Ms. Purdin
