Reading: Focus Question: How can I use context clues to determine the meaning of unfamiliar words? Review for test tomorrow
2. Writing: Focus Question: How can I revise/edit my paper? Students continue Lt. Governor writing and prepare to turn in Tuesday.
3. SS: Focus Question: What were some of the opportunities and contributions that immigrants had? Complete the SS study guide and discuss the resistance and opportunities of immigrants.
Assessment: class discussion, review game Homework: 2steps, Study for SS test Thursday, Study for Context Clues/Prefix/Suffix/Greek/Latin root word test tomorrow.
Tuesday 10th **Wacky Tuesday for Math** Standards: Reading: 5-3.2 Writing: 5-4.4/5-4.3 SS: 5-3.3/5-3.4 Procedures: 1. Reading: Focus Question: How can I use context clues to determine the meaning of unfamiliar words? Administer test.
2. Writing: Focus Question: How can I revise/edit my paper? Students complete final draft of Lt. Governor essay and turn in for a test grade. *to be graded with 5th grade writing rubric.
3. SS: Focus Question: How did immigrants have trials and tribulations while coming to the U.S. and once they got here? Review game for test Thursday.
Assessment: class discussion, review game, formal test (writing due) Homework: 2steps, Study for SS test Thursday
Wednesday 11th Wacky Wednesday for ELA
Thursday 12th Standards: Reading: 5-2.5 Writing: 5-4.4 SS: 5-3.3/5-3.4 Procedures: 1. Reading: Focus Question: Why should we know the parts of a non-fiction book? Introduce/review the parts of informational text (heading, subheading, captions, graphs, types of print, pictures/diagrams/illustrations). Use the 3-2-1 method to review, find 3 things they learned, 2 things they find interesting, and 1 thing that they still have a question about. (use article attached)
2. Writing: Focus Question: How can music help me remember what I should do when writing papers? Discuss song with students, and then listen to the song to discuss the importance of writing and why we use the writing process. (on the figurative language CD)
3. SS: Focus Question: How did immigrants have trials and tribulations while coming to the U.S. and once they got here? Administer test.
Assessment: class discussion, formal test Homework: 2steps
