Each student should have a folder that is used for Computer class only, paper in the folder and a pen or pencil for each class. Computer folders should remain in school as they contain necessary directions for the project on which the students are currently working. All work for Computer class is done in school. Directions for most projects, grading criteria for most projects, study guides for quizzes and tests, and all test dates will be posted here. Please don't hesitate to contact me with any questions or concerns.
In 3rd grade, students have been introduced to the skills needed to create a basic Power Point presentation. A description of the slide show they children are going to create follows: POWER POINT GRADE 3 You will be creating a presentation using Power Point, and the subject of the presentation is YOU. Your presentation should contain 4 slides telling different things about yourself such as details about your family, your favorite animal, your favorite food, or your favorite activity. Your first slide should have a title, your name and the number of the computer at which you sit. The other 3 slides must each contain one complete sentence. Slide 2 will be about your family, slide 3 will be about your favorites, and finally, on slide 4, tell me something I dont know about yourself (where you were born, your favorite movie or football team). All 4 slides must have background color with contrasting text, one piece of clip art and one example of custom animation. You will work on this project throughout the month of April in the computer lab. Your goal should be to complete one slide each week. These projects will be due the week of May 12th. By that date, you should be ready to print a hard copy of your slide show. I will have directions about how to print a hard copy at that time. While all work will be done in the computer lab, it would be fine if you asked your parents to help you with your sentences at home. Remember, use background color, contrasting text, clip art and custom animation. Be creative, work hard and have fun. Any student in 4M who needs extra time to work on their project may come to the computer lab during recess on Weds. April 30. Students in 4th grade are hard at work designing a Power Point presentation about one of the 4 southwestern states. A description of the project follows: STATE POWER POINT PROJECT GRADE 4 You will be creating a Power Point presentation based on the state you selected. The presentation should be 5 slides in length and must include the following information: Slide 1 The name of your state and your name Slide 2 Name the capitol of your state, and any important historical figures from your state Slide 3 Describe where your state is located and tell about the climate there Slide 4 List any important landforms (rivers, mountain ranges, deserts) Slide 5 State an interesting fact not already covered (sports team, population, celebrity) You want to make the slide show attractive to the reader. One way is to be certain that the text color stands out crisply against the background color. Be sure that the letters of the words dont blend into the background. Another way to increase eye appeal is to include interesting clip art. You may go to the Internet to find clip art. The layout of each slide is also important. Keep the layout simple, too much information and too many pictures will make your slide show seem cluttered and confusing. You will have 5 classes to complete this project. Be certain to bring your Social Studies book to class to check your information. If you are absent, talk to me and we will make plans for you to come in at recess to work on your project. All slide shows will be due the week of May 5. You must include custom animation on every slide. Transitions should be included on at least 3 of the slides. You must insert clip art on 3 of the slides. Spelling counts. You will be graded on the following elements: Content 50 points Custom Animation 10 points Transitions 10 points Clip Art 10 points Spelling/Grammar 10 points Clear, crisp text 5 points Directions 5 points Work hard, be creative and have fun! DIRECTIONS FOR PRINTING YOUR POWER POINT PROJECT After saving your work, click on File and drag down to Print. A new window will open. Look to the bottom left corner and find the words Print what:. Now that the students in 5th grade have completed their research on a patriot from the Revolutionary War period, they will use that information to create a Power Point presentation. A description follows: POWER POINT PROJECT GRADE 5 You are going to create a Power Point presentation about the patriot you researched for Social Studies class. Your presentation should be 6 slides in length and include the following information: Slide 1 The name of the Patriot and your name Slide 2 Where and when was he/she born? In 7th grade, the students are working with a partner to create a slide show about how to . . . (do something - a topic chosen by the partners). An example might be "How to Bake a Chocolate Cake". Any pictures that the children would like to use in their presentations are due by April 22, and any music is due by April 29. The topic for the 8th grade is Creation. Students are currently gathering images which represent "creation" and placing them in a folder. A selection of 30-40 images should be ready by the week of April 14. (Students who have Computer on Fridays in April are still responsible for gathering their images, even though we will not meet as a class after April 11th. You must have your images ready for the first class in May.) We will work on sorting and sequencing those images to coordinate with a musical selection, and some meaningful quotes. |
