                                   WEEK OF NOVEMBER 2 -6

                                            SOCIAL STUDIES

This week we will continue our work with Chapter 4.  We will be discussing the early history of the Northeast, and working with timelines.  We will also be working on a Northeast Map.  Remember to keep practicing the states, capitals, and abbreviations.  Also, the nicknames are extra credit.

                                                   READING

Our story this week is "The Garden of Happiness".  Our test will be on Friday.  Just a reminder that our first book report is due on Tuesday.

                                                  ENGLISH

This week, and for the next few weeks, we will be working on nouns.  The children did very well on their first English Test last week.

                                                 RELIGION

This week we will continue with our scripture lesson, "The Promise of Isaiah".  Our test will be on Thursday.

Our Fourth Grade class Mass is coming up in a few weeks.  It will be on November 25th, the last day before the Thanksgiving Break.  In addition to our Mass, the Fourth Graders will be conducting a food drive for St. Patrick's Center.  We need lots of boxes to pack up the items we get, so if any of you have any boxes around the house that you would like to get rid of, we would love to have them!

                                                SPELLING

This week we will do Unit 11.  Our test will be on Friday.  Last week, I started including two dictated sentences on our Friday Spelling Tests.  This is to help the children with their English and Spelling skills.  Many times the children do well on the individual words, and forget that it is important to spell the same words correctly in our everyday writing.

                                   *** Reminders***

Last week we sent home a note regarding our toy collection for the Christmas season.  Please help us if you can.  Toys are due at school on November 16th.

Next Monday, November 9th, will be picture retake day.

     Have a great week!
