Monday 

First day of school.

1.  Check schedules and fill out info sheets from packet.

2.  Hand out course syllabus - review and answer questions.

3.  Show how to get on schoolnotes website.

4.  Review classs rules/ school rules.Homework:  discuss info with parent and fill out, sign and return required forms.

Tuesday

1.  Hand out curriculum map - review - discuss and fill in the holes.

2.  Demonstrate and identify safety equipment and location.

3.  Cubing activity - getting to know your students.

Homework:  Go to schoolnotes website and send me an email.

Wednesday

1.  Lab Safety video

2.  Review rules for lab safety.

3. Safety procedures P.P. and worksheet.

4. Lab safety contract.

Homework:  review safety contract with parents - sign - and return.

Thursday

1.  Get textbooks from bookroom.

2.  put name in textbooks.

3.  If time allows look through book with curriculum map. 

Friday

1.  Good scientist activity ws - in pairs.  Complete and review.

2.  Lab safety video again.

3.  Does anyone need help with supplies for school? 

Week 2  August 15 - 19

Monday

1.  Supplies due today. 

2.  Composition book  assignment “Scientific tools & Equipment “ due (except 6th and 8th period) today and will be graded. 

3.  Folder set up today. 

4.  Good scientist activity.  WS – in pairs.  Complete and review. 

 5.  Lab safety video again.  Does anyone need help with supplies?

Homework :  go to notify me on my webpage and register to get updates when they are made at your home e-mial address or other source that you have for internet messaging.

Tuesday

Set SMART Goal and record week one grade. 

 2.  Brainstorm “What is Science?”  “What is Pseudoscience?”  List examples of each.  

 3.   Quick lab 1  - Evaluate Science investigations (20 min.)  form teams and check for correctness.

Homework :      Define terms in Science_

Wednesday

1.   Review science tools and measurement 

 2.  Discussion:  How do scienctists develop explanations?

3.  Compare/Contrast Theory & law. 

4.  How do scientists evaluate evidence? 

5.  Peer review?  6.  Quick – lab – Does the evidence support the explanation?

Homework :       Study notes and terms.

Thursday

1.       Virtual lab – Interpreting findings. 

2.  Review step of the scientific method. 

3.  Discuss why organization and analysis are important. 

4.  Activity – Put a problem on the board and have students use 6 steps to solve the problem.

Homework:  Study notes on theories and scientific method.

Friday 

Quiz – Vocab terms (theory, law, science, scientific method) 

 2. Groups of 3 – List several problems on the board and have each group pick one to solve. 

3.  Using the scientific method create evidence, analysis and conclusions.

Homework :  finish as homework if needed.  Due on Monday at beginning of class
