The next spirit shirt day will be October 16.  These must be worn with khaki pants.

Jeans for Genes - Fundraiser for Cystic Fibrosis.  Students may bring in a dollar and wear their jeans on October 16 along with their spirit shirts.

Congratulations on sending in those box tops.  I had more students than other class who chose to participate.  The students really enjoyed their pizza party.  Thank you PTSA.

October 24 is the Cystic Fibrosis walk.  Please encourage your child to participate.  This is also a wonderful family activity.  See Cougar Council sponsor who is Mrs. Federico. 

 

Faculty and Student Volleyball game will be on October 22.  The cost for attendance is $1.  All proceeds will bo to United Way.

 

October 30 will be our annual Family Trivia Night.  This was a huge success last year and tons of fun!  The cost for each participant is $5.  Groups are created from 8 people.  You may decorate your own table with a theme and bring what you want to eat.....gourmet or fast food.  Look for the yellow flyer.

October 23 is a spaghetti dinner sponsored by Cheerleaders.  Preorders are $7 and if you pay at the time of pickup, the cost is $9.  The money raised will help them go to Disney World for a competition.  Look for the green handout given to your children.

 

 

October 12

*Students added new map additions to their map.  Their test will be this Friday, October 16.  The new additions are Tasmania and Alaska.  The students have 30 additions in all.

*Students completed Daily Geography questions #1 and #2.

*Students took notes and discussed the Neo Babylonians and their take over of the Assyrians.  The major topics discussed were:

     Nebuchadnezzar II

     Hanging Gardens of Babylon

     Center for trade

     Math - learning place value

     Astronomy - could predict eclipses of the sun.

     Invasion of Persians

*Students made a trifold out of paper.  They headed their papers with each of these topics:  Gilgamesh (Sumerians), Sargon (Akkadians), Hammurabi (Babylonians), Ashurbanipal (Assyrians), and Nebuchadnezzar II (Neo Babylonians).  There are 25 facts that they have to separate and place under each topic.  5 facts per topic.  They have until Wednesday to complete this assignment.  They may write the facts under each topic or they may cut and paste the prewritten facts under each topic.

October 13

*Students completed Daily Geography questions #3 and #4.

*Students took notes and discussed the Hebrews(Jews).  Topics that we went over were:     Abram, Canaan, covenant, monotheism, Judaism, slavery, Moses, and Ten Commandments.

*Students also had a few minutes to work on their homework assignment.  It was assigned on Monday and is due Wednesday.  For those that were absent on Monday, they have until Thursday to get their work in to me. 

October 14

*Students completed Daily Geography questions #5 and #6.

*Students reviewed information from the previous day on Hebrews. 

*We took notes and discussed the Hebrew Bible.  The topics we discussed were:

     Torah

     1st 5 books of the Hebrew Bible

     Torah kept in an ark

     Yad

     Kosher animals

*We watched a video from United Streaming on the Torah.

*We took a quiz on what animals are Kosher and which animals are edible. (Kosher animals are edible)

*Students were given a homework assignment.  They had 5 questions to answer.  They may use textbook pages 55 and 56 to help answer the questions. 

*The only class that did not get the homework assignment was 1st hour.  Time ran out....lucky them.  They will get this assignment tomorrow!

*The students also turned in the homework assignment from Monday.

*Map Test on Friday - 30 additions.
