It’s going to be a magical day! *** We are looking for donations of gold wrapped candy...SHHHHH...This is a secret. Does your child like green eggs and ham? Do you? March 2, we will try green eggs and hams and decide if we like it. Poison Prevention Week is the third full week in March(March 19 - 23). Children will learn about poison and poison prevention and will watch a DVD about poison safety. It is a great opportunity to reinforce this at home also. As always, the number for poison control/ emergencies is 1-800-222-1222. There are numerous website online about poison control for kids. FYI: We encourage parents to be involved with your child at school at any level. If you ever have any questions or concerns about your child, curriculum or school relations, please speak to your child’s teacher. They are available in the morning for a question or two. If you need a longer time period you can set up a conference. Be assured that it is very important to be involved in your child’s education and maintain good communication with their teacher. Red Apple NewsFebruary 2012 - Summit Location Theme: Valentine’s Day, Groundhog Day, President’s Day, Dental Health Letters: H X V D Colors: red, white and pink Shape: Heart Number: 6 Nursery Rhyme: Three Little Kittens Special Days: Thurs. February is here already. There are so many different things to learn about this month to include ground hogs, presidents, dental health, Mardi Gras and last but not least, Valentine’s Day and love. Our screening process is winding down and will be completed soon. Screening will be sent home the first week in February. If you have any questions, concerns or just want to discuss the screening process or results, we highly encourage you to set up a conference with your child’s teacher or Mrs. Edwards. We will be participating with the Central Rappahannock Library in the Winter Reading Program for Preschoolers. It is called, Snuggle With a Book. Materials for this should have been sent home. We will record the books that we read at school and children can record the books that they read or were read to at home. Children love to hear the same book again and again. This repetition is good for the brain. You may be surprised at the number of books that are read in one month(even if many are the same books). This program starts on Feb.1 and ends on March 2, 2012(Dr. Seuss’s birthday). Valentine’s Celebrations Our Valentine’s celebrations will be on Feb.13 and Feb.14. Please send in Valentine’s cards for the children in your child’s class. You may also send in a treat if you would like to. Ask your child’s teacher for more specific class details. FYI: Hand washing is the most effective way to kill germs that cause colds and viruses. During the day at Red Apple, children continue to wash their hands with warm water and soap numerous times. Please encourage this at home also!! **We are now enrolling for the 2012-2013 school year** Red Apple News January 2012...Summit Location Theme: Winter Letters: I W Q Shape: Rectangle Number: 5 Colors: blue, white &silver Nursery Rhyme: Jack be Nimble Special Days: Wed. During the month of January, each child will go through a screening assessment. This is an assessment of your child’s developmental skills. It is important to remember that screening is not testing of any kind. Teachers will use the results of this screening to identify any weak areas and to develop objectives for the rest of the school year. Due to the nature of the screening process, your child will not bring home as many projects or activities as usual. You can expect the results of the screening and a more detailed explanation of the assessment to go home the first week of February. If you have any questions feel free to contact your child’s teacher or Mrs. Edwards. Hot cocoa and slipper days are Wed. Jan.25 and Thurs. Jan.26. Please have your child wear their slippers to school that day. We are looking for a few donations of cocoa and cups. Registration: We will start enrolling for the 2012 - 2013 school year this month. RED APPLE SUMMER NEWS ____________________________________________________________________________________________ *We want to thank all our alumni for recommending Red Apple to their friends and family. We hear so many wonderful things about what you say about our school! ______________________________________________________ RED APPLE PARENT NEWS...August 2011 WELCOME TO THE 2011 - 2012 SCHOOL YEAR We are celebrating 30 years of excellence in Early Childhood Education this year!!! School Notes Your child's teacher will call you before September 2, 2011 to answer questions and check information. Open houses will be held between 9:30 and 11:30 on September sixth and seventh. Your teacher may tell you the best time to visit but you may stop by any time during those hours. At the Open House you will meet your teachers, receive school information and fill out paperwork. New students need to submit a physical with a record of updated immunizations. The Commonwealth of Virginia School Entrance Health Exam Form may be downloaded from the internet by keying in that name. New students will also need to show identification such as a birth certificate or passport. All students need to bring 2 emergency contacts with phone numbers and addresses. (The Commonwealth will give us a violation if we do not have all of this information.) The first regular day of school starts September 8, 2011. We are looking forward to another great year! Monthly news letters will be posted on the “school notes” link on our web site www.redappleschools.com Paper copies will be available this year on each parent table. Accounting Our accountant works for us only a few days each month. The best way to have accounting questions answered is to email us at redappleschools.com If you need immediate assistance, call the school and we will try to contact the accountant for you. Don’t worry if you do not have computer access. Call the school. Recyclables We always welcome paper that has one clean side for random drawing. Sometimes companies change their letter heads. The back of the paper is fine for us. We also use envelopes and end of paper rolls. So, before you throw it out, think of us!! Customs and Professions Sharing your customs, professions and talents greatly enriches our program. Please read our newsletter and if you have a profession, talent or custom that seems to fit, please contact your teacher or one of the coordinators. Parent Visits Parents are always welcome to visit our school at anytime. Arrival and Departure It will be slow the first two weeks until everyone knows the routine. PLEASE be patient. Never leave your car running and never leave children unattended in the car. A greeting teacher will be outside Countrywood every day. Feel free to drop your child off with her. She will ensure that your child gets to class. This promotes self-esteem in young children as they are doing it “by themselves.” Late Arrivals In the event of a late arrival, you must walk your child into the school and take them to their teacher. NEVER LEAVE A CHILD AT THE ENTRANCE> Parent classes/workshops On each parent table is a book containing classes offered in our area for parents. If you have special interests in this area, please contact the staff. Reporting Suspected Child Abuse We are required by state law to report any suspicion of child abuse and neglect.
