Read the article on Ardipithecus to understand more about the development of Social Organization as an element of culture.  Although all animals rely on a social network to varying degrees, only the higher order mammals, especially primates, develop these networks for more than just hunting behaviors.  The new findings on Ardipithecus displays evidence that this element of culture developed very early in the hominid line.  Any of the articles and links below can be summarized for extra credit.  Describe the important elements (the five w's, the unique and interesting points) for more credit.  Generally, a half page summary is worth two or three points, and a full page can be worth up to five to seven points.
