Announcements:

  • The course syllabus was sent home on the first day of school.  The students information papers and parent letters were to be signed and returned on Monday, August 29th for a quiz grade.
  • Students should have all school supplies by Monday, August 29th.  All students must have a binder with loose-leaf paper (not a themebook), at least 2 pencils, and a red pen.  Donations of all of these items have been given to Communities in Schools--please let me know if anything is needed.
  • Students receive extra credit for a parent signing up for schoolnotes updates (click "notify me" above).
  • Weekly Progress Reports must be signed and returned within 2 school days for a grade.
  • A Matrix Project was assigned to Algebra II classes.  This project was due Monday (October 17th).  A rubric was presented in class.  Late projects need to be turned in to pass the class.
  • Homework information has been updated and is posted below.
  • Prerequisite skills are VERY important.  I have re-taught the Pre-requisite Test and a replacement test was given on Monday (October 24th).  The original test grade was replaced with the REYEST score.
  • A math teacher is available EVERY day before school AND after school for tutoring or make-up work.
  • REMINDER:  On the day of the unit test, the textbook study guide is due (odds only)!  It must be self-graded.
  • For 6 Wednesdays (November 9, 6, 30 and December 7, 14, 21), a credit recovery program is taking place from 2:35-4:00.  Any student who did not pass last quarter MUST attend, participate, and complete all 6 sessions to recover a passing grade for the first quarter.  "D" students will receive a "C".
  • Work that has not been turned in has temporarily been assigned as a "zero."  These scores need to be replaced ASAP!  Also, students must make up absences and tardies ASAP.  Students with more than 8 absences do not receive credit for the course.
  • Exams begin January 17th.  Students may prepare ONE 3x5 notecard for use on exam.

Homework Information:
  • The purpose of homework is to practice the skills taught in class.  Assignments are 5 points each and are graded for EFFORT!  These assignments are collected randomly, about twice per week (20 grades/100 points per quarter).
  • To receive 5 points (100%), attempt ALL assigned practice, show ALL necessary work, and self-grade (twice, if necessary) with red pen.
  • There will be a 1-point deduction for EACH of the following:   failing to label the assignment or write name properly, failing to do ONE part of the assignment, failing to show necessary work on ONE part of the assignment, failing to grade the assignment, AND/OR failing to turn the assignment in when it is due.
  • Assignments not turned in before the unit test will receive a grade of zero.  Any assignment turned in on time will receive at least a grade of 1.
  • Unexcused late assignments will be accepted, with a 1-point penalty, if turned in before the test.

Special Notes to Parents:

  • Students may replace undesireable test scores through reteach/retest. This option is available to EVERYONE, but is ONLY offered during after-school hours. Score replacement must be completed within one week of receiving the original score unless a reasonable exception is made in advance.  New test scores REPLACE old test scores.

  • It is the students responsibility to make up any missed work. Students should contact me ASAP regarding their make-up times. Students are allowed the number of days missed plus one extra day to make up any missed assignments.

  • A completed and updated Student Information form is required for all students. Download a blank copy of the Student Information form by clicking on the attachment below.

  • Class participation is crucial to being successful in class! Asking questions, answering questions, and being prepared for class add to participation while sleeping, writing notes, disrupting class, and talking without permission (regardless of the subject) detract from it.

  • The BEST way to reach me is via e-mail; notice the link at the top of the page.  Please type your child's name in the subject line.
