WEEKLY NEWS
Language Arts- This year we are integrating 
all academic subjects. Using novels, we will 
study all objectives required for fifth grade. 
Our genre study is fiction. We are working on the 
novel "mr. popper's penguins". We will have center work 
each week relating to the novel. Our vocabulary 
words will be the same for two weeks and then 
we will test on them. Our next test will be on 
Nov. 24th. Please practice with daily
vocabulary activities!
Our next novel will be "the tarantula in my purse" 
for our Non- FICTION GENRE. we will
begin the novel after thanksgiving.
** Vocabulary and Center Work due Fridays**

Math-(Teel)- measurement ALONG WITH 
conversions will be the focus. Students will do 
centers and math problems.  
this unit will correlate with 
"MR. POPPER'S PENGUINS".

Social Studies- Our focus is Canada. We 
will study the country WHILE doing activlessons 
on the subjectS. we will do activities related
to its economy, geography, 
government, and culture. we will do a brochure with
Mrs. faulkenbury, a webquest, and other projects on
canada. Check out the canada web link below.
our next unit will be on family structure. This
will begin November 30th.
Science- (Teel)  
Our unit is BIOMES including the TUNDRA 
which is part of the "Mr. Popper's Penguins" novel.
students will do hands-on activities and
technology projects. Our next study will
Be Ecosystems.

Health- We will study health later in the year 
using one of our novel selections.  
The novel will be 
"Maniac Magee".
