 Honors Geometry

 

The Honors Geometry curriculum includes plane- and three-dimensional figures; logical proof; congruent and similar triangles and polygons; parallel lines; proportionality; circles and spheres; perimeter, area and volume; constructions with compass and straight-edge; the relationship between algebra and geometry; transformational geometry; trigonometry; and investigation of non-Euclidean geometry.  Strong emphasis will be placed on proof, problem solving, investigation analysis, discovery, and independent thinking.  There will not be an EOC for Geometry this year.  The exam for this course will be a teacher-made exam.  Each quarter average counts as 40% and the exam counts as 20% of the final average.  The Standard Course of Study for Geometry can be found at www.ncpublicschools.org/curriculum/.

 

Grading Policy:

                    Test/Project Average:  70%

                    Quiz Average:  15%

                    Homework and Classwork:  15%

 Introduction to College Mathematics(ICM)

 

The curriculum for ICM includes problem-solving skills in data analysis; applications of functions, matrices, business, politics, and trigonometry; limits and the beginnings of Calculus.  Students should leave this class fully prepared for any college-level math course.  The exam for this course will be a teacher-made exam.  Each quarter average counts as 40% and the exam counts as 20% of the final average. 

 

Grading Policy:

                    Test/Project Average:  75%

                    Quiz Average:  15%

                    Homework and Classwork:  10%
