Homework Homework for April There will be NO Homework during the week of FCAT; April 11- April 15. Monday: Write Spelling words in planner and a Math Worksheet. Students should also read for at least 20 minutes and record the summary of what they have read on their Reading Log for Monday. You can read anything including comic strips, magazines, cereal boxes, recipe cards, directions on making something, and newspapers. Students should also be practicing the multiplication facts. Tuesday: Grammar worksheet and a Math Worksheet. Read for at least 20 minutes and record the main characters and setting on the Reading Log.Wednesday: Spelling and a Math Worksheet. Read for at least 20 minutes, and record the similarities between two characters of the story you are reading or characters from 2 books you read this week, on the Reading Log.Thursday: Study for Spelling and Vocabulary Test on Friday. Reading Worksheet, or Math Worksheet and Read for at least 20 minutes, and record the author's purpose and make a connection with the story on the Reading Log. Text to Self connection: you relate to something in the story with your own life or experiences. Text to Text Connection : You have read about some of the same things in another book. Text to World Connection : Something from the book reminds you of something that is happening in the world. An example is if you were reading a story about the election of class president. You could relate this to the election we just had in the United States for the President.Friday: No Homework- Have a great weekend! * Parents- If students do not complete their work during the day, I will be sending it home for your child to complete for homework. Please encourage your child to stay on task and finish their work in the time given to them in class. The regular homework given to every child is still expected to be completed on the day it is assigned.Homework is assigned Monday - Thursday. Your child will record homework assignments in his/her planner each day. Homework listed on the web or on the class newsletter is an outline. Specific assignments will be in your child's planner each day. Sometimes, homework assignments have to be modified or changed based on classroom events and student progress. We will try to keep the website current and make any changes needed, but if there is ever a question, please give me a call or send a note in the planner. In addition to math,spelling, and vocabulary being assigned on a regular basis, your child will be required to spend 20 minutes per night reading. He/She may read anything, but this must be time spent reading independently. PLEASE BE SURE TO INITIAL PLANNER EACH NIGHT |
