Math 3, Periods 1 and 6: Please do the following problems and study for your quiz next time.

Math 3 homework for Oct. 8th, 2009:

1.) Charles’ parents are planning a party. They got three bids from 3 local restaurants.
Restaurant #1: Each meal costs $22.00
Restaurant #2: There’s a rental fee for $150, plus each meal costs $10.00
Restaurant #3: There’s a rental fee of $100, plus each meal costs $16.50

Write equations for each of the restaurants, and graph the equations on the same coordinate graph. Use the graph and equations to help you decide for what size group Charles’ parents should use each restaurant. Identify what size group should attend each restaurant to give the lowest cost for the party with each possible group size. (Example: 0 < X< ______ should attend restaurant ____. ________< X < ________ should attend restaurant _______,   X> _______ should use restaurant________, where X refers to the number of people invited/attending the party.)

2) If the Income equation for an event is given as Income =600P – 80 p2  where p = the price of a ticket,  and the Cost equations for the same event is Cost = 1500 – 75 p, what price gives the most profit? How much is that profit? Also, for what ticket price(s) is the Cost  equal to the Income? (Remember Cost= Income when there is no profit.)

3.) Solve for X:   7x+ 8 > 4 – 2.5x
