Welcome to Mrs. Dawsey's "General Music" class! These are some of the things we are learning the first nine weeks: *Basic notation - the language of written music *Guitar: notes on the first 3 strings and chords - We will play together and individually. *The history and meaning behind our national anthem *The instruments of the traditional orchestra *Vocabulary to describe what we hear and see in music *The history of music in Ancient times and the Middle Ages and how it relates to the other "arts". 2nd 9 weeks: Music history from the Renaissance Period to the present and how this relates to other arts. *Vocabulary to discuss music intellegently *Guitar - 4th through 6th strings and selected chords *Identification of selected classical compositions, composers, genres and the era from which they originate *Musical symbols and their meaning when viewed within a composotion Parents: Please be sure to set up a confidential account in order to be able to check your child's progress and grades.
