     Make literacy a family affair!

    • Make reading aloud a daily habit!
    • Begin to read to your child as a baby.
    • Singing songs and repeating nursery rhymes will build your child's pre-reading skills.
    • Keep a bag with a few of your child's favorite books and some new stories.  Take it whenever you go out, in case you have to wait somewhere.
    • Ask your child what will happen next in the story.
    • Talk about the pictures.
    • Have your child retell the story.
