What's Happening?

Reading/ Language Arts:  We are in Theme 3: We're A Family! This theme focuses on understanding that families are all different, but also very important.  Week 1 text is Tortillas and Lullabies.  In this book a  young girl tells about trarditions that have been passed down from her great-grandmother.  The story is written in both English and Spanish.

Week 2 text is Shoes From Grandpa.  This book is about a little girl and all the gifts that she received for her birthday.

Also, this week we are studying the letter Nn and its short and long sounds.  We are discussing and creating lists of words that begin with this letter.  Some of our crafts this week will also be based upon the letter Nn and Thanksgiving.

Mathematics: We are beginning to learn about solid shapes; such as spheres, cubes, cones, and prisms.

Baggie Books: N/A

Bubble Gum Readers:  Keep up the good work! We have already had some students to meet their goal of reading 25 books!  Others are still working.  I encourage you to read with your child each night to help them develop phonemic awareness with sounds, as well as learning the parts of books.  The last day of 2nd quarter is January 21st, but don't let it sneak up on you. Keep Reading and get those books in before Christmas!
