Dragons Math November 2-13, 2009
I want to congratulate all those students who performed well on their first quarter report card and also challenge those who know they can improve. remember, unless you had straight A's there is always room for improvement. If you as a parent would like to schedule a conference with any of us on the Dragon's team please feel free to contact us at school (704) 638-5561. By keeping the lines of communication open and clear we will ensure that this happens. If we want all of our students to achieve and do their best, we must all work together. I look forward to continuing to work with all of you this year. Please don't hesitate to come by and see me if you have a question or concern. Make sure to review and sign the agenda each night. If you don't see homework completed, please don't sign the agenda. Students, remember to be completing your Keeping Skills Sharp activity, it is due every Wednesday or Thursday in the event of a holiday. We will be working on decimals for the rest of the quarter. The Study Island internet-based tutoring program is up and running and your child has math activities assigned to them.. I have assignments on my Study Island site right now. There is a direct link to the site at the bottom of this page. students can log in using their first name followed by a hyphen, then their last name followed by a period and sems. Their password is whatever they set up last year. I now have a list of all passwords, if you would like them to work with study island at home please send a note in their agenda and I will write down their login and password. I will be sending home progress reports the week after Thanksgiving Holiday. I am going to attempting to send home progress reports every 3 weeks, instead of just 1 time per quarter, in an attempt to keep you better informed as to your child's progress and any missing assignments. If a student has a blank space on their progress report it is because they haven't turned the assignment in to me yet, this will not turn into a zero until the end of the quarter and receive a reduced amount credit (depending on the lateness of the turn-in date. If an assignment has a grade of zero it is because a student did not answer any of the questions correctly, if the student wants to redo the assignment they are more than welcome but they must exhibit the desire and take the responsibility to get it done again. This is something that I am doing in Math because we typically have more assignments than any other subject, due to the pacing guide and the vastness of the concepts we cover over a nine-week period, so you can expect your child to bring home a regular interim progress report on December 10 as scheduled from all other classes.
