April 30th-May 11, 2012
We had a very successful trip to Hiddenite. I feel the students received a great deal of educational insight about rocks minerals and gem stones while there. We continue to focus on learning operating procedures and school rules here at Southeast. We need to begin focusing on making sure the students are doing their best on every assignment. Please make sure to support our school rules and policies at home by reminding students to do their best, we seem to currently have an on-going problem with students chewing gum. We continue to stress the importance of attendance every day here at school and the priority of getting all assignments completed on time. If a student was absent on the date they may make it up and receive all points awarded for the assignment. However, if the student was here and just failed to turn it in on time they will still receive points, but the points will be pro-rated depending on how late the assignment is turned in (usually -10 points per week it is late). We are working on Space and Space exploration in Science class. While in Math we the coordinate grid and graphing transformations. We continue to hold tutoring on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday mornings before school (from 6:50-7:10), just be sure there is something in particular your child knows what they need help with, we are finding several students are just coming in and hanging out. Please continue to stress the importance of following the school dress code by having your child wear a belt and tuck in their shirt. We will be taking our final post-assessments in all subjects during the week of April 30th-May 3rd, please be sure that your child attends school if at-all possible. The following week we will be making a final effort to review and prepare for the End of Grade tests, given during the week of May 14th-May18th(specifically May 15, 16 and 17). Remember, if you need to reach Mrs. Walker or myself don't hesitate to call the school (704) 638-5561 or send us an email. We continue utilizing the homework hotline (704)638-6484 ext. 312, to find out nightly homework assignments. Lastly, please make sure to sign your child's agenda each night and check to see if anything is highlighted that was not complete from the night before.
