A huge Thank You to the PTG for purchasing a huge stack of new book titles for our Middle-School library. I have to say it was like Christmas for me seeing those books, and the students will feel that way too. I’ve seen how well they respond to new and current books, and I just know these titles will be read and students will inspire their friends to read.
You have made such a difference today with these books. Thank You and God Bless the PTG.
7th grade took a cumulative review exam of their vocabulary from units 4,5, and 6. We reviewed with fun games of BINGO. Students on the whole did very well. We have been reading literature from the Medieval era and that discusses Medieval life. Next week we will read selected scenes from “Romeo and Juliet.” We continue to examine how literary devices help authors grapple with abstract notions; today’s for example was a prayer that used sensory details to help us make sense of the grandness of Christ’s love for us. We will continue this lesson by writing an in-class essay next week together as a class.
6th grade took an exam in grammar about agreement. We have been practicing all week and going over the rules for this to make it easier. Again, on the whole students did quite well. We continue to read in-class a play called “Phantom Tollbooth.”
I plan to have essays back to 6th and 7th grade students next week as well as portfolio.
Happy three day weekend. |
