Week of 11/2:

General Announcements:

-Please sign and return point cards and agendas daily.

-Any Pants Day on Friday $1

-Picture Retakes on Friday

Language Arts:

-HW: Spelling words and homework (worksheet) are provided each Monday.  Students are also given the option of "challenge words" to study for the weekly tests as well.  Any center work that is not completed in class by Thursdays of each week, will be completed at home for homework as they are collected on Fridays.

-Reading Logs: The November reading logs were sent home on Monday.  These are due on Dec. 1st.

-Comprehension tests:  Each Friday students will have an open-book comprehension test on the story. 

Social Studies:
-Journals:  Each week, students are to respond to  a written prompt in their SS notebooks.  Journals are completed in the back of their notebooks and are collected after every 5 entries.  Students are scored on the following elements: completion, content, details (at least 3 sentences), punctuation/capitalization, and intro/conclusion.  If a student is absent on the day a prompt is given, they may obtain an extra copy from the classroom or borrow a classmate's journal to copy the question.  Class time is provided to respond however further time may be required to complete them at home.

-Our new unit is History.  We will begin learning about four Native American tribes and will eventually complete dioramas in class based on the assigned tribes' environment.  If you happen to have any craft supplies to donate for this project such as yarn, glue dots, craft sticks/toothpicks, colored felt, and modeling clay, please be sure to label it with your child's name.
