November 30-December 4 2009

Dear Parents,

I hope you all enjoyed the holiday break! Hopefully you were able to rest and relax with your families. Please encourage your child to continue reading each night and study their math facts. Also, affidavits of residency are due December 17th. If you have misplaced your copy, you can contact the office and request another copy.

 

AFFIDAVITS DUE DECEMBER 17, 2009

Affidavits of Residence and two proofs of address are due December 17, 2009. A purple letter and affidavit form will go home with all students on September 14th.

 

Language:  We will focus on Chapter 14 Past-Tense Verbs 

Spelling:  Words ending with –er and est.

Reading: We will continue reading the novel: The Best Christmas Pageant Ever.    

Math: We will focus on division with two digit numbers. 

Social Studies: Chapter 5 Roanoke and Jamestown.

Science: Chapter 4 Sound, Light, and Color

Weekly Spelling Homework

  • Turn your completed work in by FRIDAY, late work will not be accepted.
  • Label each assignment.
  • Be as neat as you can.
  • Work may be turned in early.
  • Below is a suggested timeline to work on homework. It does not have to be done in this order, but each activity must be done by Friday.

 

Monday – Dictionary Skills

1. List all your spelling words in ABC order

 

Tuesday – Subject/Predicate

  1. Write a sentence using the starred spelling words. 
  2. Underline the complete Subject once, the simple subject twice. 
  3. Circle the Complete Predicate and draw a square around the simple predicate (verb).

 

Wednesday/Thursday – Vocabulary word sorts

  1. Follow the instructions below—look for the date!!!!
