When learning math content, it is VERY important to regularly assess how well you are picking up the material and retaining in your brains after you walk out of the classroom. Because of this, we will be having short quizzes after every lesson. Usually we will complete a lesson every class, but sometimes it may stretch out to 2 class periods. Basically, I like quizzes...so you'll see a lot of them.

Tests will be given at the end of every chapter. They will be announced about a week in advance, but if you want to figure out the exact date of the test, just assume it will be 2 class periods after the final section of the chapter .

(If we finish a chapter on:

a Monday, then the test will be on Friday

a Tuesday, then the test will be the following Monday

a Wednesday, the test will be the following Tuesday

a Thursday, test next Wednesday

a Friday, test next Thursday)

The class between the final section of the chapter and the test will be used as a review period. This review is WHAT YOU MAKE IT, meaning you need to look over everything we've done in the chapter in order to get the most out of it.  If you have ANY questions on ANY type of problem from the chapter, ask a question about it on the review day.

Almost always the review will take the form of a practice test. The practice test will look EXACTLY like the real test, EXCEPT that the numbers will change for the real test. However, the KIND of problems will be the exact SAME on the practice and real tests.

I expect you to come to class everyday PREPARED. This means that you have your textbook, notebook, and a writing utensil (pen or pencil). Failure to come prepared will cause your grade to drop. Classwork (part of which is coming to class prepared) is 30% of your grade, so do not slack off in this area.

DATES FOR THE FINAL (08-09):

  • 3B: TUESDAY JUNE 9 AND THURSDAY JUNE 11
  • 3A: WEDNESDAY JUNE 10 AND FRIDAY JUNE 12
  • 2B/4B: THURSDAY JUNE 11 AND MONDAY JUNE 15
  • 2A/4A: FRIDAY JUNE 12 AND TUESDAY JUNE 16

IFYOU DO NOT FINISH YOUR FINAL IN THOSE 2 CLASS PERIODS, YOU MAY HAVEMORE TIME, BUT IT WILL REQUIRE YOU TO COME TO SCHOOL THAT LAST WEEK(THE WEEK OF THE 15TH) WHICH I KNOW YOU DON'T REALLY WANT TO DO.

Onceyou have completed the final, I do not care whether you show up toclass anymore, provided you are satisfied with your grade. If you needto make up any work (or want to make up work because your grade isn'twhere you'd like it to be) then continue coming to class so that youcan do make-up work.
