Week of August 25-29, 2008

Parents please discuss the events of your child's school day by asking him/her to share with you some of the things that he/she has learned. Your interest makes education seem more valuable and it encourages an attitude of wanting to be successful. Please do not wait to receive a call from your child's teachers as to his/her progress; be an involved parent by calling or emailing us. Because we teach many students, sometimes our parental contact may not be as timely as you would like, therefore we are asking for your help. Please do not hesitate to contact us with your concerns.

**Conferences can be scheduled for Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday or Thursday at the following times. Please call Mrs. Hampton @630-5555 or email @ ehamptom@wcpss.net to schedule your conference. Conference Times are as follows:

Mon.-Thursday

10:20
10:45
2:30
3:00

Each child has been assigned two textbooks for which he/she is responsible. The total replacement cost of these books is $73.00. Please encourage your child to keep up with his/her books as they will have to be paid for by year’s end.

Students have been assigned a locker to house their personal belongings. Books and other personal items should be kept in their lockers and not left in the classroom or hallway. Failure to abide by this rule will result in an ASD after the first reminder is given. All students have received their first reminder. Please refer to the team letter that you received.

Parents, please note that I have not posted assignments to schoolnotes in an effort to enforce the usage of planners. This plan of action was implemented to enforce responsibility, organization and communication. My assignments are written on the board on Mondays. At the beginning of class, students are given time to write down these assignments. Please enforce the usage of this valuable organizational tool by asking to see it daily. It is the most accurate source for assignments as no adjustments are made to schoolnotes once these assignments are posted. Assignments in Language Arts and Social Studies are given Mon.-Thursday, and Math, Mon.-Friday.Please help us to help your child become more organized and responsible by making the planner a requirement.

**Report cards were given out on 11/07(Friday.) Parents of students who fail 1 or more core subjects need to call Mrs. Hampton (630-5555)to schedule a conference with the team. Conferences can be scheduled Mon.-Thurs. 10:30 or 2:30.Please be an advocate early on as opposed to later.
