*Thank you for your thoughts and prayers for my husband Joe and the other soldiers that are deployed at this time.  He is currently safe in Iraq and busy, busy, busy.  We hear from him every few days.  It is blessing to know he is doing well.

**************************************************************************
*Most SCOPE forms can be found on the NCES website for you to print off for your child.

**************************************************************************************
*IF YOUR CHILD DOES NOT HAVE A SET OF COLORING ITEMS (CRAYONS, MARKERS, COLOR PENCILS), GLUE, AND SCISSORS PLEASE MAKE SURE THEY CAN OBTAIN THESE.  Some students have their supplies in class and others don't.  We have used these supplies a lot lately and some students have not had their's to use.

**If your child has not returned his/her progress report, signed, that was sent home last Thursday, please have them do that ASAP.

CLASS DOINGS

SCIENCE

*We will begin our unit on forces and motion this week.  We will be doing lesson 1 in chapter 6 this week and moving to lesson 2 & 3 after Thanksgiving.  We will finish this unit before the Christmas break.  You can expect a final test around December 16th.  Your child will make a graphic organizer for vocabulary on Monday and it will be due, finished, by Wednesday.  Once I check it on Wednesday please make sure that your child studies it until the test.  Since we will have a week off for Thanksgiving in the middle of this unit, we need to make sure they are studying to keep up with what they do before the time off.

SCIENCE PROJECT:

*Mrs. Hunt and I will be finishing tomorrow with looking at the tasks that were turned in on Friday.   The notebooks will be given back on Tuesday and we will discuss and even start the next task.  If the students happen to finish it in class they will still be instructed to bring it home for parents to check.  It will be due back by this Friday, Nov 20th, but if your child wants to turn it in on Wed. or Thur. they are more than welcome to do so.  (All explanations can be found on this site under the attachments sections for the science project. )

*This Thursday I will be showing examples of tri-boards to the class.  This will show them what is to be on the board and an idea of how to set it up.  Once I give your child's folder back after this week's task is graded, I won't need the folder to return to me.  At that point you can start on the tri-board and have it ready to bring in on Friday, Dec 4th.  You are welcome to come in and see the examples after this Thursday also.  I will hold on to the boards until we have our Celebration of Learning (TBA).

**All work must be written in the science project folder. Any work turned in NOT in that notebook loses points.  The students have been told this daily as we go over the project and answer questons.  If your child is absent during the week, their project step is still due on its due date.  They know all dates and requirements early to help them with their timing.

MATH:

We are still reviewing and practicing long division.  Your child knows the DMSB (divide, multiply, subtract, bring down) to help them remember the steps.   We will take a quiz this coming Thursday over all division and will move to geometry after Thanksgiving.

RESPONSIBILITY:

Each child in the fourth grade is capable of being responsible for their belongings. If you have an emergency at home and your child cannot get an assignment completed, we understand, just send us a note. Late homework is not accepted (unless your child is absent).  They will need to be prepared with pencil and paper daily. They have a weekly folder that is due on Wednesday's. Don't be surpised if you begin to see more marks on the conduct calendar due to responsibility.

If you have any questions this year please feel free to ask.
