LTC R. Brewer (email: rbrewer@mcsdga.net)

Army Junior ROTC (Reserve OfficersÂ’ Training Corps) is designed to develop character, self-discipline, responsibility, leadership and an appreciation of good citizenship. For the LET (Leadership Education Training) 3 - 6 levels, the course focuses on citizenship, the constitution, leadership, military drill, physical fitness, ethics, decision-making, government, the Constitution, and military history. Further, LET 3 - 6 cadets are part of chain of command and, as leaders, are expected to set a proper example at all times.

LET 3 and 5 are the fall course numbers for 2nd and 3rd year cadets.

LET 4 and 6 are the spring course numbers for the 2nd and 3rd year cadets.

The senior level leadership consists of 4th year cadets.  These cadets are carefully screened and selected and are few in number due to the limited number of positions.  These cadets must be self-starters and extremely mature for their age.  Representative tasks the 4th year cadets perform include, but are not limited to: Preparation and conduct of cadet training, cadet discipline, promotion boards, battalion publicity, cadet administration and property accountability.

LET 7 is the fall course number for 4th year cadets.  LET 8 is the spring course number for 4th year cadets.  Refer to the LET 7 syllabus for specific grading rules for these upper level cadets.

GRADING POLICY (for LET 3 - 6 cadets)

Leadership/Conduct/Work Ethic* 35%

Examinations 30%

Quizzes/Notebook/Homework 20%

Physical Training 15%

*Leadership/Conduct/Work Ethic entails how well the cadet performs his/her assigned duties, how prepared he/she is for class and how well he/she behaves.

GRADING POLICY (for LET 7-8 cadets) (See appropriate syllabus)

SCHEDULE OF CLASSES:

The month of October will see our cadets conducting presentations as part of a two or three person group.  The topics assigned cover Wellness and First Aid.  Each group will have a 50 minute presentation on a selected day.  All other students will participate and take notes concerning the topics covered.  There will be an end of unit test over the topics covered.
