Dates and Updates
Help needed! We are completely out of cap erasers - I tried a Walmart near my house last weekend but they were totally out of stock. The children would greatly appreciate if you could send in a package or two. Also, I plan to do Oreo moon phases with the kids, but with 48 students, thatsalotta cookies!! If you are able to let a package of Oreos fall into your cart next time you are grocery shopping, it would be very helpful! I plan to do the activity Mon, Feb 13th so please send in cookies this week so I know how many more I need to buy over the weekend.

Class Topics: Math: Assessed graphing last week - I have 2 students who need to make up this test then I can send it home for anyone making test corrections. Friday I introduced measures of central tendency: range, mode & median. I showed them mean as well, although that's actually a 5th grade standard so it will not be assessed. We will have a short quiz on median, mode, range and coordinate systems this Weds. {Standard M4D1} Science: We have been working on Earth in the solar system (day/night, seasons) and will begin moon phases this coming week. The kids will be making a lunar phase sheet on which to record what they see each night for a month. I will have them begin observing Tuesday night (a full moon). Please allow them to go outside and view the moon with you. {Standard S4E1}
Homework: Ask to see your child's homework agenda to make sure this is the correct assignment for the day (plans sometimes change). All work (except tests) is due the following day so assignments may be brought home for parents to verify completion. We check that homework is written down each morning.
