Mrs. Anderson's 4th Grade News

February 8-12, 2010

**No homework Mon., Feb. 8. Make sure your child is well rested and fed so they are ready for FCAT writes on Tues., Feb. 9!

* Class Valentine Party Fri., Feb. 12. A list of students in the class will be sent home on Mon.

* Parents: Make sure your child is doing their homework. Last week's percentage of students that completed all their homework and had their planners signed is the lowest it has been all year. The percents were: Mon. -75%, Tues.- 65%, Wed.- 70%, Thurs.- 50%!!!!!

Our Class Mission Statment

Mrs. Anderson's 4th grade class will be on or above grade level by the beginning of 5th grade. We will do this by practicing in class and at home, paying attention, setting goals and tracking our progress, and working as a team.

This Week's Objectives:

Math:

1) To identify and draw similar and congruent figures.

2) To perform geometric transformations (slides, flips, and turns) on a figure.

3) to identify and create figures with symmetry.

Writing:

1) To write an organized essay with elaboration and show me details.

Reading:

1) To find cause and effect while reading.

.  2) To use context clues to define words.

Science:

1) To compare/contrast comets and asteroids.

2) To identify objects in our solar system.

HOMEWORK:

Spelling- Spelling Soup (12 pts.)

Math- study vocabulary and math facts; computation (listed under downloads at bottom of page)

Reading- AR

Spelling Words- words for said

Math Vocabulary: We will learn these words this week during math. They may or may not be on your math vocabulary quiz on Friday.
