May 24, 2012 Dear 2C Parents and Students, I am looking forward to seeing you tonight at the Academic Fair. Your child will be your tour guide. It begins at 6:00 and ends at 7:00 p.m. I thank everyone for RSVP-ing. : ) Please have your child bring in a plain white t-shirt by Friday, June 8th. The children are going to meet their Pen Pals on Wednesday, June 13th. Please be sure to pack a lunch for your child that includes a snack and a drink. They should also bring a beach towel. Mrs. Hedstrom, the school nurse will be coming in to talk to the children about Sun Safety on May 29th. The children are making great headway on their insect reports. Groups are even writing songs or incorporating jokes into their performances. They will begin creating their puppets in class next week. SAVE THE DATE! The Grade 2 Picnic will be held on Friday, June 15th at 11:00. More info to come! Field Day will be held Monday, June 11th. The rain date is June 12th. Please be sure your child dresses appropriately. SPELLING Spelling concept: Basic Words: Challenge Words: MATH The children took the Chapter 19 test last week. I sent it home today. We will focus on Measurement over the next few weeks. It is a fun, hands-on unit, perfect for this time of year. This week we will focus on inches, feet, and yards. READING Story: Genre: Realistic Fiction Word Work: -ture and -tion ************************************************************** Your child should know the following words and their definitions.
