HomeworkI expect students to do their best on their homework and that all assignments are turned in on time. Assignments are written on the homework board in our classroom daily and remain posted all week. It is the students’ responsibility to copy their homework assignment in their agenda. The agenda is a vital organizational tool for each student and needs to be brought to class daily. If you would like to see the homework for the day or other announcements please access Schoolnotes.com on the Web (posted after school). Step 1: Access Daniel’s Website: http://danielsms.wcpss.net/ Step 2: Click on “Teams and Departments” on the left side of the homepage. Step 3: Click “Grade 6” and select your child’s teacher It will improve organization and responsibility by asking your child about their assignments and checking their agenda each day.
Independent Each student is required to read at least an hour and a half each week outside of his or her other class assignments. This can be any type of material they choose that is level appropriate (novels, magazines, short stories). He or she is to record what they read and the amount of time they spent along with a parent or other responsible adult’s initials to confirm the time. This will be checked every Friday at the beginning of class. Students will be given the opportunity to visit the
Independent Reading Book Students should have an independent reading book of their choice in class every day.
LA Grade Tracker Students are provided this form for keeping a record of all language arts grades. This allows the student to track missing assignments, their overall grade average, and study materials for upcoming tests. This sheet should be kept in the back of their language arts binder and should be updated regularly. Makeup WorkAttendance is very important, however, if a student is absent due to an excused absence he/she is held responsible for the make-up work. Students are expected to look for missing assignments in the Absent Folder when they return to school. Accessing our class’s homework Website on Schoolnotes.com described above is another option. Students are allowed the same number of days they were gone to make up the work.
Assignments turned in after the due date Students are given ample opportunity to complete and turn in all assignments on time. As a result, there will be a penalty for any work turned in late. This does not apply to the Independent Reading Record (IRR).
Extra Supplies?Any extra supplies for the classroom are appreciated such as: paper, pens, glue sticks, index cards, pencils, markers, tape, scissors, staplers, tissue boxes, or anything else you think we can use in the classroom. ________________________________________________________
