WELCOME TO CARVER ELEMENTARY
and this wonderful adventure called KINDERGARTEN!!!




*IMPORTANT DATES*
 
MONDAY 9/28 thru FRIDAY 10/9 - Fall TRACK OUT, see you MONDAY 10/12!
 
TUESDAY 10/13 - Mc Teacher's Night at the Wendell McDonald's from 5:00 to 8:00, come out and support our school.
 
WEDNESDAY 10/21 - EARLY RELEASE, dismissal at 1:15.
 
FRIDAY 10/23 - Fall Fun Fiesta, 2:00 - 3:00.
 
FRIDAY 10/30 - Vollmer farms Field Trip!

 
 
* Children who have parents involved in their school and are connected to their teacher are more successful in school.

* Reading to your child every night increases their brain development.

Things to remember:
 
1.) Check your child's Green School Folder every night and sign the assessment sheet.
2.) Take all student work out of the Monday Folder and sign the Family Comment Sheet.
3.) Money should be sent to school in an envelope or bag with your child's name on it.
4.) Please be aware of the Carver dress code, tank top straps must be 2-3 fingers wide.
5.) Check the Snack Schedule to be aware of when it will be your turn/day to provide snack for the class (20 students).
6.) Please review the Kindergarten Promises with your child at home, following these rules and expectations will help create the safe and loving environment that helps learning flourish!
 
KINDERGARTEN PROMISIES:

              *Say nice words and use a table voice.
*Be a good listener and follow
the teacher's directions.
*We share.
* Always do your best!

Throughout the month of October, we will be exploring the topics "We're a Family" and "Fall is Fun!" It will be an exciting month in KINDERGARTEN!
 
Books the children will be READING are:
 
Tortillas and Lullabies By: Lynn Reiser
Shoes From Grandpa By: Mem Fox
Peter's Chair By: Ezra Jack Keats
Does a Kangaroo Have a Mother Too? By: Eric Carle
...and some seasonal books too!!!
 
 
We encourage our families to READ every night!
 
In LITERACY we are practicing:
* Letter Recognition
* Letter Sounds
* Rhyming
* Concept of Word
* Print Concepts
 
In MATH we are:
 
* ROTE counting to 20.
* Learning to identify numerals 1 - 10 and higher.
* Learning to write the number forms 1-10 and higher.
* Learning the corrert order of numbers (1-10).
*Creating AABB and ABC patterns.
* Among many more MATH concepts.
 
We use whole group and small group activities with real life concepts and hands on manipulatives.
